366 Concept – Retro Furniture collaboration with Louisa Judith which designed fabric collection for 366 Junior Series. The collection is named “Isabella Button”, it is inspired by a group of beautiful paper cuts of animals from the late 1800s.
Louisa stumbled across them in an antique cabinet that she recently inherited from her Great Aunt. The cabinet had been handed down the daughters of her family for two hundred years, and until then, the paper cuts had never been seen. Peering into all the little drawers, she found a secret one with about fifty or more beautiful paper cuts of animals hidden inside of a diary. It was like a bit of a discovery!
The intricately cut out animals were of delicately described dogs, that Louisa has made into “Patterned Pointers”, as well as these friendly looking giraffes that we have used in our “Kissing Giraffes”. The diary, written by her great Grandmother Isabella Button in 1799, was filled with her sketches and notes on colour dyes.
